A short drive from Waimangu is the Waikite valley with its hot pools set in a lush green valley, lots of healthy cows and sheep happily grazing in their patch of farmland. The delicious looking sheep in NZ always reminded you of kebabs and biriyani, and later on lamb shanks. Our pool was on a ledge and you could dip in the pool while you watch the beautiful country side. There was a loud hissing from the hot spring close by from where the water was piped into the pools. The water has a soapy feel to it and you can also see suspended matter in the water, obviously all the minerals. After a dip, had dinner and returned to Rotorua.
