Day 16 - Lake Tekapo, Mt cook

Nov 11, 2008
On the way back, we planned to spend some time at Lake Tekapo. Close to Lake Tekapo there is a observatory, where you can take tours at night to watch the night sky, the McKenzie district I believe has one of the clearest night skies around, I have a passing interest in astronomy and was interested. Since this tour starts at around 10pm, and Lake Tekapo is 100 odd km from Mt Cook, we did not do it. The pictures here are from Lake Tekapo.

The tossing and turning on the river and the drive back was making Rashmi feel sick. How ever once we go back to Lake Pukaki, we decided to stop for a while and take a few pictures of Lake Pukaki and Mt Cook based on th experience in the morning. We parked the car and the wind by now was howling, the gusts at times would rattle our car. Seems that the once the wind passes Mt Cook there is no land mass that blocks it, so for all you know this wind is unhindered from the shores of Australia a couple of thousand km away.
