We have a 400km drive from Franz Josef to Christchurch, that will take us to Hokitika, Arthur's pass and then over the Canterbury plains to Christchurch. In effect we will be going from the west coast to the east coast. Uneventful drive to Hokitika, then we turn off the coast to going inland via Arthur's pass to Christchurch. Nice peaceful drive, and we get to Christchurch late in the day. We hit traffic for the first time since leaving Bangalore and then have problem finding a parking spot.
