Day 18- Fox Glacier

Nov 13, 2008
After all the rushing about for the last few days, we decide to take today easy, which means leaving only after lunch. We are going to fox glacier to see Lake Matheson and then sky dive, I have my reservation for 7pm, seems like they were all booked out.

Looking at all the posters of Mt Cook, Mt Tasman and Lake Matheson all over NZ you would think that Lake Matheson is this huge reservoir of water. In fact this is such a small lake and doesnt really make sense the dispropotionate coverage that it gets. You can easily stroll round the lake in less than 30 mins. How ever on a clear day you can get these beautiful shots of Mt Cook and Mt Tasman reflecting in Lake Matheson. Today Mt Cook and Mt Tasman were both shrouded in clouds, so dont have one of those iconic photos to show. There is also an island in the lake called "reflection island", where you can take colour photos of your reflection, is it really true that other reflections of lakes do not show your reflection is as good a detail, not sure?
