When you are sitting in front of your computer and seeing all these pictures of Milford Sound, it looks awesome. How ever when you have spent 4 days in the midst of some mind blowing scenery, Milford Sound's beauty is par for the course. I am not blown away like I had expected, but my sense can still appreciate its beauty. It is funny how the mind works, when you know that you have 53.5 km ahead of you, your legs never hurt and you wake up next morning and start walking without any issues what so ever, but the moment you tell your body that the walk is over you begin to feel tremendous pain. We have both been immobilised, I am not able to put one foot in front of the other any longer.
We transfer over to the cruise section, to take the 90 min cruise on Milford Sound. If there is one thing in my itinerary that I would have liked to have done better, that would have been to be able to spend more time at Milford Sound. This was the place that got us to come to NZ and we did not spend more than 2 hours at the place.
Once the cruise gets underway the scenery continues to be spectacular. Due to the pain in my legs, I make the stupid mistake of taking photos through the panaromic windows which arent clean enough, thankfully I did get onto the top deck and take snaps from there too. On the top deck, the breeze is so stiff and cold that you cannot spend more than few minutes at a stretch. We cruise out to the Tasman sea, we saw seals and dolphins on the cruise.
After the cruise we catch a bus back to Te Anau, we fall asleep immediately in the bus. I miss my chance to see the Homer Tunnel. Back in Te Anau my Brazilian host, tells me about Felipe Massa's defeat at the hands of Lewis Hamiliton. Once back at the Hotel, I take a long hot shower and almost immediately feel better and have the energy to go back to town for an hour long walk.
