We had a 260km drive from Queenstown to Mt Cook. We were to drive to Arrow Town, then Wanaka before heading out to Mt Cook. From Arrowtown to Wanaka we took the Crown Range Road which offered more beautiful sights, how ever this is a pretty curvaceous road and you got to be very careful.
We got to Mt Cook village in the evening. Our neighbours an English couple, excited us about rafting on the Rangitata river and we decided to raft the next day. We were staying on the banks of lake Pukaki a pleasant surprise. In the evening we decided to take a leisure walk into the glacial valley. The walk was very relaxing, what with Mt Cook in the background changing colours as the sun was setting. The path to the river valley, crossed through pastures and there were tons of rabbits scampering around. The 30 odd mins on the walk we must have seen at least a 100 rabbits.
